We planted 50 more bulbs in the front gardens on Friday, October 7! Welcome back to a new school year! We begin our year by studying such topics as place value, patterns, and Medieval times. You will probably notice an increase in the frequency and volume of homework for your child this year. Look for assignments in your child’s planner. Homework should never extend beyond one hour. It would be beneficial to establish good routines for homework, including a set time and place in your home. You will be informed of assignments and events that are scheduled throughout the year, however, if at any time you have questions, please call the school or send a note. Let us know if you would like to volunteer for activities that we have planned at school, including reading with students. Reading is an integral skill which your child works hard to improve every year. At least twenty minutes per day should be devoted to reading at home. There are many educational websites that are worth investigating if you take time to do so. Here is an example of one to explore : http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/abc123/eng/tips/ We’re looking forward to a busy, enjoyable year! Ms. Bastien |
