November News 2009

Cooler weather is here! Please remember to label all mittens, coats, boots and hats with your child’s name.  We often have several pairs of the same mittens or boots that come to school on the same day and if they are labeled it will be easier to tell which child they belong to.  Some of the extra clothes that were sent in to be kept at school were for warmer weather.  Please send in warmer clothes and I will switch them with the clothes that are already here. Please put a quick note in the ziplock so that I will know to check backpacks for extra clothes.  Thanks!

During the month of November we will focus on the following themes:

Fall and preparing for winter

During these themes we will focus on the following expectations:

-recognizing numerals and sets of 4 & 5

-identify, extend, reproduce and create repeating patterns

-sort, classify, and compare objects and describe the attributes used

-recognize some quantities without having to count, using a variety of tools or strategies-begin to make use of one-to-one correspondence in counting objects and matching groups of objects

-continuing to learn our classroom rules and routines

-self reliance when dressing to go outside, putting on his/her own shoes, hanging up his/her belongings

-recognizing/printing their own names (Only the first letter will be a capital letter and all of the rest are to be lower case)

-letters  Nn, Bb, Kk

-cutting skills-follow simple directions and respond appropriately to familiar questions;-ask questions, express feelings, and share ideas;-listen to stories, poems, and non-fiction materials for enjoyment and information;-orally retell simple events and simple familiar stories in proper sequence

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the school
